In this project, I conducted a user study to delve into the prospective role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a collaborative tool in the realm of graphic design. The study revealed current challenges faced by designers, inspiring the creation of three visionary scenarios for AI-powered design tools. To materialize these concepts, I developed the "Desain" prototype, a cutting-edge AI-based graphic design platform.
During the user study and subsequent interviews, designers shared their insights and ethical concerns surrounding AI's role in their creative process. While AI was highly valued as a collaborative tool, participants emphasized its limitations in capturing human creativity. Ethical concerns included issues like lazy design, accountability, and data privacy. The study underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical guidelines, and responsible decision-making for the future integration of AI in graphic design.
The Desain prototype, designed using Figma, aimed to provide an engaging and interactive experience for users, allowing them to actively shape a successful solution. While it didn't feature actual working AI, it simulated AI-based interactions, supporting designers throughout their creative journey. The prototype featured a user-friendly interface with a color scheme incorporating white, teal blue, and yellow accents to emphasize essential elements. Additionally, the Desain logo was crafted in hand-written lettering to add a personal touch to the platform.
