Head in The Clouds

Head in The Clouds
This started with a random doodle of a hot air balloon and turned into a personal project.
I changed the drawing into a light bulb balloon and the phrase immediately came to mind.
What a fun concept; how far and high the imagination can go for ideas and inspiration.
At first, the design was just the light bulb balloon. It looked kind of empty, so I added a shine shape inside to balance the space and imply the light bulb is glowing. I showed the design to a friend and she suggested I put the light bulb balloon in context because I had to tell her it was both a light bulb and a balloon.
I put the light bulb balloon inside a frame with clouds and a normal hot air balloon.
Then I put the phrase underneath it and chose a font that matched the simplistic style.
Next, negative space versus positive space. Color in the background or in the subjects?
I showed the updated design to my friend again and she said the background should be colored because it made the light bulb balloon look like it was switched on.
Finally, because the sky is blue, I went through several blues before ending up choosing a deep blue-purple to contrast the white.
