Love Local

Dunzo initiated the #LoveLocal Design Project to return respect, revive relationships, and provide a greater reach for our local merchants. Here’s a glimpse into the thought process behind giving our beloved neighbourhood stores a design makeover.
The brief was to create a new aesthetic for Indian retail stores, with clear design thinking,
along with the local nuances that helped them stand out in a crowded bazaar/ market.
The team began by identifying and categorising the different types of retail merchants and created unique,
yet adaptable design language for branding them.
Striking a balance between functionality and aesthetics, the project was executed in the city of Bangalore and
garnered a lot of love from local retailers.
In India, most retail stores have a shop board carrying the name of the store, and they don’t often carry the keywords or identifiers that signify the category that they serve. Moreover, the way retail stores are packed close to each other doesn’t help them stand out or draw the attention of potential customers.
Design elements

The designs used cues and patterns from within each category and typography as visual identifiers for the store. Furthermore, each category of retail was assigned a specific colour, so that it could become easy for customers to recognise the kind of store a merchant runs.
