I made this map for the Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT) game mode, where (similar to Among Us and other social deception games), you need to kill other players without being found, or if found, survive them hunting you.
I based it off one of the main streets used in the map of Kamurochō, a fictional district based of Kabukichō, that is prevalent in the Yakuza (Like a Dragon) series of games by Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios.
I chose it as inspiration as the Yakuza series is one that I'm a fan of and wanted to contribute to it's legacy with this map.
Creating this map was the first thing I did related to game development, a project of mine as I was starting my college, to hone in my skills using the computer and test them.
I learned the ins and outs of the Source Engine and the Valve Hammer Editor to learn map making on them, and scripts so they could work on the TTT game mode.
I also went far and beyond to take pictures and make my own assets and materials for the map, so I could do the most in recreating the feel and locations from the game, with changes to better suit the game mode and flow of the map.
I also studied a lot of map design and game design in the making of it, learning how a map should flow, how the players see it as a playground for their game, and the hardships of making a fun map.
The TTT game mode is a fast paced one, where you must be always moving, a still target is an easy target, so the map needed to have an easy flow, where players would end up meeting each other naturally, and where an traitor after making it's kill could run away and not leave any traces.

Even learning how to create portals and secrets, to help the traitor better move around the map and escape clues left behind.
Since its release, the map has been played multiple times! As I received player feedback, I worked on making the map better and better.
Now it has over 14 thousand views on the site Game Banana, and more than 3 thousand subscribers on the Steam Workshop.
