Primary and secondary research were done to perform the study. Some texts are not originally from the researcher but only edited to complete the study. Sources are acknowledged in the thesis book. But photos and the creation of the creatures are originally created by the photographer - who is also the researcher - and the prosthetic team.

Creating creatures from the imagination an be a very difficult task. Most of the characters that make up the myhtical domain do not exist in our physical world- at least not to the extent where you can just go and take photographs of them to use as reference. Therefore you have to depend on the legends, myths and folk tales that were passed on orally or occasionally written down through the ages and even depend on what you see in horror films and tv series.

Realizing the Unreal: Bringing to Life the Creatures of Myth provides a basic understanding of Philippine mythical creatures and introduces a way in which it is possible to bring them to life - Prosthetic Makeup. It showcases photographs like small movies, with sets, costumes, elaborate props and special effects makeup.

This study serves as a gateway to further exploration by artists who wish to incorporate them to their artworks. It aims to both inspire and educate you in the difficult task of unleasing your imaginations and help kick-start the process of creating your own world of HORROR.

The completion of this project requires the cooperation and assistance of many people. I owe a great debt of gratitude to my family who gave me their full support and time necessary for this. To my artists and actors who made my characters. And to the many friends who contributed advice and encouragement.
And to all the people who helped in the overall production.
