Worlington
Beer and Cider Festival 2021
So after picking up a random flyer for "Worlington Beer & Cider Festival", a last minute decision was made to go check it out. I equipped myself with my 35mm Canon A1 and a few rolls of Kodak Portra and stepped out into the unknown.

We all know that August bank holiday weekend weather here in England can go either way. We are either applying the factor 50 by the truck load like it's going out of fashion or donning the winter coats and getting the brollies out in force 9 winds. Fortunately this particular one in 2021 was a good one. Well..I say good.. it kind of started off spitting for a while but then turned out really nice.
"Spitting" is a really light rain that doesnt make you wet but forces a lot of people to glance out the window and say "no thanks I am staying put".
The light rain didnt hang around for too long or dampen any spirits, and soon the weather turned hot and dry.. the bar however very much didn't.

We had the foresight to walk there as it really is only a 35 minute walk.. if you run...
No seriously its a 35 minute walk armed with a buggy and children that need food and water every 5 minutes.
I soon started to get into a groove and find all the cliché car corners that you shoot on film..
My personal style of photography lends more to finding the details and there are always plenty to find at a car show.
There was some great local bands playing live. So if you can imagine listening to some proper cheesy 80's rock classics while looking at these images you would almost find yourself transported to the show!
Seriously though.. how good are these images!? I dont mean good as in win any awards or prizes, but they are just sooo clean and look almost too good to actually believe they was shot on 35mm film!
I do admit the Canon and 50mm 1.4 FD lens is a killer combo.
If you don't take a reflection selfie, was you even there?..

I rarely exist on any family outings when I look back, so its nice to grab an opportunity to document myself.
and a behind the scenes of the selfie for added measure ;)
I wanted to show this for the awesome Canon with its "Passed" sticker still intact! Not bad for a camera as old as me!

(I know its hard to believe this camera is 29.....)
A beer (or maybe it was two) really helped me to relax and get creative. Now I am not saying we all start packing hip flasks of your favourite tipple instead of tripods or anything. But it was a nice way of chilling out and finding my groove. Tripods tho... are they the work of the devil?...

A couple of years on from when I shot these images and I still like really like looking at them and think "yeah Ant you did alright" even fueled by a cocktail of Greene King's finest IPAs
Looking back at the image I shot here, I would definitely change the composition, which is strange because I remember really taking my time to line this one up. But yes I would have had less negative space on the right side of the frame.

Those headlights though are killer...
"It's not easy being green"

Lovely car but shame about the colour! I have never been a fan of green cars, but I really do love those MK1 and 2 tinas!

"Bugger"                                                    "Skulls and Hula Hula"
Heck, we even found Jesus...
The Morris dancers are always a crowd pleaser!
I don't really shoot "street" photography with people in the frame, but I was quite pleased when I saw how I captured this guys character. I should have cropped the top and right side of this to bring him more into a pleasing composition, but hey folks..shooting film keeps you honest.
Loading film was really starting to prove a challenge a few pints in...
A few snaps of the family rounds up the set. Oh and I also shot a little behind the scenes video of this day :)
