- The gluten-free online word of mouth

A business concept I was involved in was shortlisted in the final twenty entrants for the CIT APPrentice Competition as part of CIT Innovation Week 2014 and won Best Poster Design. The APPrentice competition invites students to enter app ideas.

Glútan is an Irish community based application that provides a localised service that helps coeliacs (which there are approximately 40,000 in Ireland), as well as individuals with gluten/wheat intolerances and those who simply want a healthy gluten-free lifestyle in Ireland to find gluten-free products at ease through peer reviewed content. Currently there are no applications specific to Ireland in this area.

The average cost of a coeliac shopping basket is 87% higher than non-coeliac baskets therefore the application also aims to save people money by providing a club card service.

The application is also a platform for local businesses that supply gluten free products by allowing them to advertise their products and give discounts to encourage sales in a win-win situation for both them and the customer.

We aim to help users save money and find the best possible product suitable for their diet through our digital word of mouth.
