Open Studios, a visual and performing arts magazine that features local artists and their work from behind the scenes. Targeted toward a young and creative audience ranging from ages 18-35, Open Studios draws interest through experimentation and composition. Inspired by Swiss Design and the Basel School of the 1940's. The focal point of the layout is demonstrated through a modular grid structure that breaks and moves throughout the page. With the use of bold san serif typography accompanying artistic imagery, I wanted these elements to interact and be equally dominating on the page. The cover defines the feel of this unique magazine. Each issue illustrates fresh imagery with the type logo interacting with the grid in a new way. It's about exploration of type and image.
