Научно-исследовательский Зоологический музей Московского государственного университета имени М.В. Ломоносова.
Зоологический музей основан в 1791 году как Кабинет натуральной истории при Московском Императорском Университете.
В 30-е гг. XX века музей был введен в состав Биологического факультета МГУ, затем его административное подчинение и структура неоднократно и причудливо изменялись пока, наконец, в начале 1990-х он не обрел статус Научно-исследовательского зоологического музея.
В 1970–1980-х гг. музей претерпел полную реконструкцию, открывшую новые возможности для его развития. Была обновлена экспозиция всех залов, увеличена площадь фондохранилищ.
Старейший и самый крупный московский музей.
Самый популярный музей среди московских школьников.

Research Zoological Museum of the Moscow State University.
The Zoological Museum was founded in 1791 as the Cabinet of Natural History at the Moscow Imperial University.
In the 1930’s, the museum was allocated to the Biological Department of the Moscow State University and after numerous transformations in structure and subordination, in the 1990’s it gained an official status and a title of the Research Zoological Museum.
During 1970-80’s, the museum was completely reconstructed, which opened new opportunities for its further development. All of the exhibitions have been renovated and the depositories have been significantly enlarged.
It is the oldest and the largest museum in Moscow, and the most popular one among Moscow schoolchildren.

Overall impression is that the museum is stuck in time, living apart from the modern world. It feels like it’s covered with dust that you would want to shake off.
