Synopsis
As a personal project exploring key art creation, I decided to create a concept cover for the upcoming "NBA 2K24" video game.
The hype and buzz generated amongst basketball fans upon the reveal of the upcoming title's cover athlete is an iconic yearly event, a staple of NBA 2K franchise's brand identity.

The Inspiration
Personally, I was a huge fan of the art direction of the alternate covers revealed by 2K and marketing agency BOND, so I decided to capture the essence of it through my take of the cover, whether that's through incorporating an abstract colourful background or including a rectangle behind the main logo, a rather new addition to the brand.

The Concept
I chose Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum as my cover athlete, due to his connection with late cover co-star Kobe Bryant, as they both shared similar playstyles on the basketball court and had a close relationship.
Tatum has been phenomenal for Boston, averaging over 30.1 points per game, 8.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season. He is more than deserving of a cover placement.
I challenged myself to use a shot of him in game action, rather than a stationary media day photograph, to add an exciting, thrilling feel to the cover.
Rather than creating something super stylistic and over the top similar to prior works of mine, I created something with a more professional finish.
