DVB102 | Week 3 | #oneperday2023 | Comic Book Strips

The challenge was to create a comic strip telling a story from your school days. I remembered a day that I got into trouble for telling the teacher that one of the cows from got out and was wondering around the school.  

I started with a number of thumbnail drawing to play with a few ideas to see witch one flows right.

From the list of stories the escaped cow story made my partner giggle so it felt like it translated well in to the comic form, so I started to develop the images into high fidelity image. 

Using my 0.7 passer on A4 paper I started creating the caricatures, back ground and dimensions to create a more involved layout for the reader. 

once I was happy with the over all look and feel, I started to play with using pens on an A4 sheet of paper and I founds that I really struggles to get the detail I wanted so small. I make the choice to move to a A3 paper and founds working in this size made the process smoother and in line with my skill level with this medium. I was able to use a number of different wait pens and markers to build depth, detail and shadow through the image. This is not a medium I have a lot of practice in, and it is clear I need to develop my cross catching and shading but it was a fun experiment to play with.    

Once the A3 drawing was finished I used my A4 scanner to bring the image into my computer in 2 files, So I then used photoshop to join both sides and tidy up a few rough edges.
