"Things change. But thankfully not everything.
New look outside, consistently the finest quality Scotch whisky inside."
This is a simple story expressed in a simple way. A man pours a glass of Johnnie Walker Black label whisky and as he does we witness the passing of time; the props, sets, wardrobe, Whisky glass and the Johnnie Walker bottle & labels evolve from 1820 to 2008. But as all around changes we are very much aware of the only thing that doesn’t change: the whisky itself. We visually express that while some things may change, not everything needs to. And we do this by focusing on the quality and appetite appeal of the pouring whisky.
There is a sophistication that is also evident in the the lighting and pared colours of the film. We look at the world through the Johnnie Walker Black colour palette; out of the dark, warm tones of gold and caramels dominate. While the background remains dark, there is still a hint of depth within it and not completely black or abstract.
