This was a project I helped create outside of school. Vacation Bible School, or more commonly referred to as VBS, is a non-profit church program run by volunteers. The goal of VBS is to inspire kids in the church to be excited about the Gospel and to draw new members as well. It is meant to be a fun retreat from the kid's normal, everyday lives.

For this program, I hosted, organized, decorated, and created some custom visuals for it. This presentation is meant to display my work. For this VBS, older themes and materials were used to create a mix of locations to create a travel theme, however, because it was a mix of themes, we lacked a backdrop for the main stage. I made this custom backdrop on Illustrator and Photoshop

I used Gin Oblique and Bungee Shade for the custom logo. The original color scheme was blue, yellow, and white, but the yellow did not mix well with the other graphics. Because the variety of places featured for this VBS, multiple colors were assigned to their individual theme. A clean, simplistic illustration style was chosen for its flexibility and appeal to kids. The unique idea of this VBS was that there was an overarching theme of travel, but that we'd "fly" to different places each day by changing the decorations in the hallway. Below are some examples of the travel decorations as well as the different themed days.

These decorations stayed the same all throughout the program. Bungee regular was the typeface for the boarding and baggage claim signs.

Here are the city and backyard theme. The city theme was difficult to pull off, since the buildings were not to the correct height, but it worked out in the end. '

The backyard theme was a surprise, which why it was not featured on the backdrop. Basically the idea is that the we would travel to different vacations every day, and then on the final day, we would come back home to our "backyard." My home church is from a rural southern farming community, so tractors and crops were the ideal props for this.
