Each year I take on a special project called the State of the Arts. I try and find new perspectives on
Merced's growing artist community, and in March of 2013 I decided to go directly to the aritsts and ask
them why they think they can thrive in Merced. I creative directed the entire project and took the
photos and wrote the story myself.
