Defendant's job in-question involved building a brand-new networking system for the entire Navy and Marine Corps. The scale and complexity of the task was enormous. The accounting methods utilized by the contractor assumed that there would be no unforeseen difficulties, and the job would progress at an even and predictable pace, with an on-time completion and with no unexpected costs. This assumption was completely un-realistic. This mistake was an important point for the jury to understand.
