Coney Island - High Hopes

Coney Island - High Hopes
An early bathing and resort for affluent New Yorkers, a place for crooked business, gambling, prostitution, bandits (including 18-year-old Al Capone working temporarily at Coney Island), racetracks and betting, gambling halls, and fun rides for the middle class. In the twenties of the last century one million visitors came daily to the "Nickel Empire" Coney Island. The glitter of the twenties is not much to see today. But millions of people who have been looking for anything in this place - distraction, love, bets, alcohol, pleasure, good or crooked business..., all these acient souls have left an energy that is still noticeable.
