The Ninja Spiki character is an original character design created by Nakanari. The character was featured in original sketches, illustrations, paintings, and custom sculpted projects. When the opportunity came to have the character developed into a vinyl figure I partnered with Nakanari to translate the artwork into the files and materials that a factory would need to create the figure.

The production of the vinyl toy followed many of the same stages of graphic design, starting with ideation and sketching. The sketches are refined and turned into vector illustrations. This becomes control art that is sent to the production factory.

The factory will go through several stages of sculpting clay and wax molds. Each stage goes through rounds of revisions, until the figure meets the artist's vision.

Packaging design is also developed and tested throughout the development of the figure.

When the final results are produced, the templates for the vinyl figure and packaging can be used as the base for color variations and alternate designs.
