Nike & Res Magazine Short Film Pitch

A pitch to create a shortfilm for Nike and Res Magazine for the Air Force One's 25th Anniversary.
SYNOPSIS

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Air Force One we will construct a series of stylized dioramas showcasing a collection of AF1 gems.

DESCRIPTION

These miniature sets will shuffle through Air Force One History. Personal anecdotes from sneakerheads,
b-boys, and eccentric shoe collectors emit from speakers found within the displays. These dioramas take their cues from museum exhibits and religious shrines. Pop culture and historical objects will adorn the space making reference to the shoe’s year and the personal anecdotes being told.

The film opens in the back of an abandoned shoe store. Piles and piles of shoe boxes fill the space.
The camera zooms in on what appears to be an empty shoe box. Moving into the darkness of the box, a miniature stage comes to life.

The voice is excited, and recalls his first 1985 Air Force Ones:
“I don’t know man… I’d wear them on my way to Karate class. I was a Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, inspired Karate Nerd. I’d be walking around town doing stupid sidekicks and round houses in the air like a little dork. Those shoes hold special powers for me… somehow I slipped by without getting my ass beat, or my shoes taken’.”

Under his dialogue rests intermixing hip hop tracks fitting the era of the time. Voice samples and music samples engulf the soundscape.

We will transition through the years using what we call a “time machine effect”. The dioramas will shift from scenario to scenario like a spinning prize wheel. Each diorama has a shoe centered in the middle of the set. So the action will also function like a Zoetrope.

Each scenario features characters with equally eccentric stories. A character offers an inexplicable account of his undying love for the AF1 shoes: ” I don’t hoard these, uptowns should be like Health Care, I want to give the “Ones” to the world. For real, these are the uptown doves of peace.”

By the end of the film the time machine spin will rest on 2007. The shoe will be made of cake covered in icing and candles. A hand will reach in and grasp the cake smothering the decoration. We cut to a long shot, and we
are now found inside the apartment of an eccentric shoe collector. A small Indian man, conservatively dressed.His rampant shoe collection overwhelms the space

He pulls the shoe cake out of a cake box, blows out the candles and chows down on the cake shoe. Cake icing covers the collectors face. He addresses the camera with an icing covered moustache, and a confident yet tiny voice. “I have ‘em all now.”
