We were asked to create an application that would socialize the reality television series Doomsday Preppers. This was achieved through a Facebook application that is distinctly different, fun and engaging. The game allows users to project themselves and Facebook friends into possible catastrophic circumstances determining their chances of survival.
Users were given the opportunity to build a team from their pool of Facebook friends, assigning unique roles and skills to each friend. The team's preparedness was evaluated against multiple disaster scenarios in which the team's roles and skills were the deciding factor. Results for each scenario affected an overall score that could be compared against other team scores through a real time leaderboard. Team leaders were able to boot people from their team to invite new friends at any time. These key features made for a fun, interesting and socially engaging gameplay experience.
