Keefe Gorman is managing director of wealth management at Merrill Lynch in upstate New York. When not working at Merrill Lynch, Keefe Gorman is involved in his community; he served on the board of directors for the Reconstruction Home in Ithaca for eight years. The Reconstruction Home is a non-profit senior care facility with a community of approximately 120 residents. The organization strives to provide safe, comfortable, and healthy living for each resident and encourages a high quality of living, ensured in part by volunteers who visit daily to show residents that the community cares about them.

 

Volunteers share their skills, such as performing music or reading aloud, playing games with residents, or offering professional expertise, to make the Reconstruction Home a better place for the residents. Volunteers not only help residents feel good about themselves, but they also gain new skills and receive numerous benefits, including volunteer recognition.
