Toyota Automobile Interface Redesign

Toyota Automobile Interface Redesign

We own a 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport and was not impressed with the "Infotainment"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infotainment) system. Purchase a $40K truck and you get the design and experience of a dated mid 90's car stereo. So I decided to redesign the Toyota Tacoma entertainment interface using Google design principals. Google brand guidelines were chosen because they do not actively have an automobile interface currently on the market (to my knowledge).

The auto industry is a few steps behind in providing a good user experience—most interfaces are cluttered, inconsistent and poorly designed. I wanted to create a user-centered design that was simple, intuitive and ergonomic. I focused on adding features that users needed and removed the unnecessary clutter.

Navigation Wireframes (using Google Maps)
