Special memory about rain—one image that still impress on me until now is my families saw me off in Beijing international airport on a rainy day. That was my first time to study abroad. It was hard to say goodbye. The Rain always reminds me my families.

On the poster, Chinese characters, which is a Chinese poem "Nostalgia" written by Guangzhong Yuare placed on the top to give the viewer a sense of distance. Not only is there an actual distance, but it is also represented on this poster. To continue this idea, I used tradtional Chinese paints drawn on rice paper. The content of the English letters is my definition about homesickness. Nostalgia and homesickness is caused by a twelve hours time difference in summer and a thirteen hours time difference in winter, taking more than 14 hours flight, and a 150000 kilometer distance between my hometown and here.This makes our communication very difficult between my family and me.This is why rain always equals to homesickness.

Installation: Inside of the umbrella is the Chinese poem. Also, it is a personal space in which only I can understand the poem. Outside is English letters with more than 200 letters hanging from the ceiling, they seemed like raindrops falling down, which created a rain-like atomosphere. People can hold the umbrella as they walk through the letters raining down.
