This was a University Project in which we had to take a narrative and create a short animation around it. The one I chose was a documentary by Vice about Aokigahara. The goal was to capture the emotion of someone fighting with their need to live and their want to die through the tape. The deeper challenge though was making the viewer feel uncomfortable, like they can't do anything to stop it, without the animation becoming boring.
I feel I achieved this goal to at least some degree and received my best mark yet in my course as a result. Also this allowed me to prove to others than I'm not limited to cute and cuddly designs but able to do more emotional and even characterless work.
This was the final draft of the Story Board although due to limitations in time and audio a lot was chopped and changed for the final animation.
