ABOUT PROJECT

This 186 sq. m apartment is located in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, Ukraine. The task was to design comfortable housing for a young couple and their cat to fit all their needs in this originally open space with 4 big panoramic windows and a height of 3.45 meters. The main requirement was to design a working space big enough to fit all the equipment needed and to be integrated into the living space. The fact that the master of the apartment spends plenty of time at the workplace (even during relaxation time) made him wish for a presence effect in the everyday home routine and the possibility of eye contact with his wife. So, we decided to make a big open zone that includes the kitchen, dining, living, and working spaces. One more task to be solved was the placement of a sports area. We have no windows left to have natural lighting in this zone, so using glass blocks was the solution to insulate the gym. The home office, which also doubles as a guest room, has a place to accommodate indoor plants that bring nice silhouettes to the sports area through the glass blocks. The sleeping zone consists of a master bedroom, master bathroom, and wardrobe. What's interesting about the planning is that the hall is a nodal point of transits in the apartment. There are many routes for hosts and guests depending on their needs and functions. Also, a few features for the cat, such as a second-level route and a special closet under the sink in the guest bathroom, were created.

KITCHEN-LIVING ROOM

The kitchen-living room has combined several functions - a relaxation and play area, a workspace, a cooking area, and a dining area. Originally, we had an open layout. We liked the large rooms and high ceiling. One of the tasks was to preserve this sense of space. To achieve this, we used glass blocks, low interior partitions, and worked with the apartment's lighting.

We paid great attention to the functionality and details of the apartment. All lines and heights are repeated in every room, creating a sense of spatial integrity.

HALL
With the help of a low partition featuring mirrored panels, we were able to visually unite the main room and the hallway. Additionally, this technique allowed natural light to enter the room even without windows.

HOME GYM
The apartment owners primarily work from home. We needed to create a highly autonomous space that would cater to a large part of the modern family's daily needs.

GUEST ROOM (SECOND WORKPLACE)

This small room was designed to serve as a guest reception area and also as an additional workspace.

MASTER BEDROOM

In the master bedroom, we incorporated two walk-in closets, one of which serves as a transitional space leading directly to the apartment's exit. The second one is the main closet, where the majority of the owners' personal belongings will be stored. Additionally, there is a makeup table in this area
The bedroom has direct access to a large terrace, ideal for barbecues and evening relaxation, and it also boasts a private ensuite bathroom with a spacious bathroom.
