ARTFUL VOICE- is a community based public art project designed by Deborah Landry. The overall designed came straight from paintings created during open community workshops held on the city sidewalk. The first five images will hopefully show how the design’s were inspired. When you look in the background of the panels you will see hundreds of small artworks. All the art work was created by community members during several months.
It is fun to witness the public look for their art work and experience pride in their accomplishment.

Artful Voice is a public art project involving small watercolor paintings produced by the community members of Michigan City, Indiana. The project was designed and led by local artist Deborah Landry. “Artful Voice” collected art throughout the summer at First Friday Art Walk events, the Lakefront Art Festival, from the Lubeznik Art Center, and from youth at Michigan City High School and Pine Elementary. Participants were encouraged to create art according to themes such as “community,” “history,” and “vision for the future.” Artful Voice is on display at the site of the future Uptown Artist Lofts, to symbolize the community’s vision for downtown revitalization through the arts.
