This brief was for an illustration class of mine back in 2012. The final deliverable piece was an A3 poster that explored the psyche of a particular set of characters. I chose Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as the basis for my illustration because I thought I could lend the medium of spray paint and stencil to reinforce the hallucinogenic / hazy feel of the movie and the characters.
The final piece is meant to convey Johnny Depp, Benecio Del Toro and Tobey MacGuire as they travel the dry, harsh desert on a complete and utter bender of a trip before slowly transforming into the bats that grace the screen. My stencil ended up being a total of 6 layers which was a struggle in itself trying to coordinate that many layers and aligning all the colours correctly. Some of the mistakes actually lent themselves to the authenticity of the project though.
