You might have experienced, or seen images in the news during June 2023 of North America blanketed in smoke - Canada and eastern Russia are both experiencing their worst fire seasons on record at the moment.

The fires are projected to not stop until it starts snowing.
This image is a photo-composite of burnt pine forests and images of
preventative back-burning that I've shot over the years,
manipulated into the form of a family of bears.
Literally half of Canada's surface area is covered in forest, so it's pretty easy to understand why air quality across the continent is going to be worse all year.This stuff is becoming more frequent and that bit more intense - the climate crisis is picking up speed, and this piece is a response to that.
