I was given the task of creating a graphic to celebrate Paolo Banchero being drafted into the NBA 2022/23 season.
At the time, the draft had not taken place, and so the focus of the graphic initially was to highlight PB's time at Duke. I was asked to create a piece that had a dramatic, slightly grungey feel, as well as have neon in the design.
The team and I decided that the second option was the most cinematic, and effective for the purpose to the graphic. The next step was to develop on this idea, and include neon to fit the brief.
The main neon element for the piece, would come from either the circle, or the no.5, that PB used in college. As it wasn't confirmed at the time which number PB would be using in the NBA, we decided to go with the second option.
During this time, and the next meeting, the NBA draft took place, and Paolo was round 1, pick 1, for the Orlando Magic. We then proceeded to add the Orlando Magic logo, as well as a jersey swap for the main subject. Keeping the left image of PB with a Duke jersey, as a thanks to the college that supported him getting to the NBA.
