SQUARE GREENS | greenhouse

Square Greens
Project type: greenhouse Design group: SEVE

4 days 3 meals
we imagined and created a new way to produce and
consume fresh food. Square Greens has achieved the
maximum performance for a so little device.

We aimed at creating a tool, as simple as a square and as little as a microwave that could replace far less healthy home appliances.

The final result is a minimalistic yet high performance greenhouse that can produce three complete meals in just four days.

The pod
as big as a A5 paper, green pods are designed to generate a full fresh meal.

The needle functions like a stopper for the water, when the pod is inserted the water is free to pass through the tube and get the cotton wet.

Green pods are designed to contain the seeds and are easily removable.

We created a pod that could tell you when the meal is ready, we made it using a status bar
that changes color with water.
.

The attention to details can be seen on the back of the greenhouse where the logo, legal indications and energy plug are situated all in a single square.

The prototype
we started from a single nylon print, containing two frames split in half and all the parts to make the greenhouse work. then we added a water pump and a water resistant led stripe.
.

Pods testing: We found out it would take 8/10 days for the greens to grow and it was too much for us. That's why we contrived a ''secret'' system that can assure the full growth as fast as possible. 4 days for a full meal.
