In 2012 I started to learn Arabic. For foreign language learners, it is often hard to distinguish the different pronunciations of the individual letters in the Arabic alphabet. That is why I decided to make a book about the Arabic alphabet, with pronouncing instructions for non Arabic-speaking people.

Alif Ba Ta was made during a 3-day-book-workshop. Because of the short time period and the lack of Adobe Middle East, I decided to work without a computer and do my book all by hand. The workshop took place in an old psychiatry facility. The psychiatric ward was perfect for that, because it had huge white rooms with nothing
in them, except space for me to work.
