Parque Ribereño Inundable del Rio Chillon

Parque Ribereño Inundable del Río Chillón
The Chillon river is located in the province of Lima, department of Lima, encompassing seven districts. The Chillon is one of the three most important Valleys for Lima and the second source of water for the city, it has a great biodiversity and geography, as well as flora and fauna. However, despite being a source of food for many citizens, its natural environment has deteriorated over the years, generating a growth in pollution not only on the riverbank but also in surrounding areas. Much of what were once agricultural plots today are seen in abandonment and areas invaded by informal housing, makeshift roads and informal quarries.
Accelerated urban growth caused the Chillón River to be seen as a hard edge that divides the Carabayllo district, causing a gap in the district. Around the world there are good references on Riparian Parks where the main characteristics are to repower a lost area, create a connection between urban-rural and generate a public space for the city, therefore, the Flood Riparian Park proposal was born in the Carabayllo area, where it is proposed to unite the district through a project that brings together the educational, cultural and social, providing it with urban equipment according to its needs and above all, a natural landscape recovering the memory of the river and the agricultural plots.
