GeoComics (now www.comics.education) began as an effort to blend "content-area" reading for K12 students using US national curriculum standards, comic style art, and interactive maps. There are more than two dozen "comics" freely available for use in schools - most supporting science or social studies classrooms.
Each comic is written at the targeted reading level and each comic addresses specific learning standards. Characters are different in each comic, ensuring a wide representation of characters.
Each comic has a plot line; adventure is added at every turn. Most comics include an embedded interactive map so that students can further explorie the content.
