Fulham Football Club Redesign

Fulham F.C are the oldest professional football club in London, having been founded in 1879. The club currently competes in the Premier League. For much of it's history, the club had been using emblems derived from the boroughs' heraldic coat of arms.

In 2001, the club redesigned it's logo due to the inability to copyright the previous heraldic arms.

The aim of this exercise was to build on the 2001 redesign and to give it a little character and at the same time make sure the clubs long history is represented. This is done by incorporating design elements from previous emblems.
The palette required minor modifications. The old dark red made way for a brighter, more vibrant shade. And a gold was added for use in monochrome applications and/or special occasions.
The letters started as simple forms based of geometric sans-serif types. But quickly morphed into somewhat gothic forms. This change came about as I tried to fit in the ironworks balcony detail in the design.

This detail was featured on the clubs 2021/22 kits. It did not make it into the final design.
Thanks for taking the time to check this out.
