New York Times - Modern Love

Motion Graphics
This project was a collaboration with the New York Times for their column Modern Love. Based on the article by Tim McEown, I’ve created an animated short film that tells the love story of Tim and his wife Sarah. Is the first time I’ve done this kind of format and I’m already looking forward to start working on the next one.

Creating this project was both exciting and exhausting since I did it all by myself, and it was definitely a huge learning experience.

My idea for this pieces was to create an abstract/poetic representation of Tim’s essay. Rather than representing his words through literal imagery, I used rhetorical figures like metaphors, exaggeration, metonymy, among others, to create new relationships between the images and the words.

This project had a couple of constraints that pushed me into looking for techniques that would be very time-effective, it was interesting to find the technique that would be best for each shot and then match the style throughout the film.
