Project: Tianjin Trumpet Island
Location: China
Developed at: Waterman Group
My role: Landscape Architect

This project was developed in concept stage in 2008 and proposed the construction of an island that would protect the margin from the Haihe river floods.

The following images are updates of the exploration done, at the time.

The concept was to have a naturalised island overlapped by a series of platforms. The intention was to reconcile human use with natural fauna and flora.

______________________________________________________

The series of platforms are inspired by over-water fishing villages and ports

Between margin and island there would be opportunity for ludic and commercial activities

The trees planted in the island bellow make a connection with the human use at the top of the platform
