MAYUKWAYUKWA DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Our first idea is to take the kitchen as the center of the building. This is where everyone has meal and find connections. Next we draw the cut lines to create the pulse function blocks around. Next is to push the blocks to the outside to create a distance and combine with the existing construction to enclose the kitchen. Pushing the blocks apart to create traffic spaces, the interior and exterior spaces are intertwined. Finally, create completely open courtyards outside to organize meetings between volunteers and local people. With the construction structure located in the center of the land, we designed the landscape according to the subdivisions including: Around the project, there are cultivation areas, sports fields and solar energy areas to meet all living needs as well as learning. The landscape created by curves contrasts with the building by straight lines and makes stand out on the building when viewed from above. The construction structure is made of two main materials, wood and earth. These are materials that can be easily obtained in Africa and the cost is not too high. The wall structure system will be made entirely of rammed earth with a width of 30 cm. The roof structure will be outside the wall and made of wood with a column step of 3.5m x 3.5m. Creating the column step by common module for easy identification during construction as well as phased construction. In the first phase, 2 buildings that house 2 bedrooms for volunteers, a large space serving as a classroom and dining room at the same time, and a kitchen next to it, will be built. We will renovate the multifunction space to house 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. The roof of each building will be built too. In The 2nd Phase: 2 other bedrooms and a building that houses a classroom, an office and a storage will be built in this phase. The roof of each building is set up to be built too. The 3rd Phase: Last building, housing 2 classrooms and 2 bedrooms, will be constructed in this phase, completing the whole function of the center. Of course the roof will be immediately built after that. The 4th Phase: Some walls around the center, small details and outdoor spaces will be built in the last phase. The semi-circular yards is planned to be used for some teaching activities requiring large spaces
