CHURCH IDENTITY – SpiriTime Ministries

BACKGROUND

SpiriTime Ministries is a local Seventh Day keeping church (not a Seventh Day Adventist church)

BRIEF

To refresh the SpiriTime Ministries church branding so that the image of their church is visible and that the church brand resonates with it’s members, congregation, and the souls that they preach and deliver the gospel to. The logo of the church should still be the most recognizable visual part of the whole church identity

By designing a visually appealing and cohesive brand for the church, can help deepen connections and leave a lasting impression on the congregation and the people that are affiliated with the church

LOGO DESIGN

When I assessed the church’s old logo, it came to my attention that:

- The logo did not have a PNG format. Their previous designer did not give the church any copies of the various formats that a logo is supposed to come with

- The torch element of the logo was extracted from the internet, copied, & pasted inside the cross, and was not custom designed from scratch (along with the cross. That was also copied from some vector image the internet, & a drop shadow was added).

*I did communicate my findings of the above encounter with the church representatives, because had the church continued to use the old logo, they might have gotten into trouble with the copyright issues & plagiarism*

- The logo output was only in a solid JPEG format and can only be used on a white background only, the solid white background restricting the logo from being placed on anything that has a different colour background either then a white coloured background.

SpiriTime Ministries church logo is absolutely central when it comes to communication and because of that I, along with the church representatives didn’t want to change it & give it a complete rebrand. We have decided that a refreshed look for their logo is the best option forward, keeping the same layout & color palette

After evaluating the problem with the logo, I have taken it upon myself as a graphic designer to:

- Modernize the previous logo give it a unique, creative feel to it, while keeping it’s core elements intact.

- Redesign a logo that will look neat & appealing especially when used & placed on different elements (eg. Baptism certificates, apparel, business cards etc.)

- Ensure that the updated logo design output comes in different formats, suitable for the logo (JPEG, PNG, PDF, etc.)

- Incorporate all the colour palettes of the old logo onto the new one
