I never thought I would like pineapple on a pizza, but my son changed my mind. 

He loves this sweet and savory combination.

I wondered why some people call it “Hawaiian Pizza” instead of "Pineapple Pizza", so I did some research. To my surprise, I found out that this pizza has nothing to do with Hawaii. 

It was actually invented in Canada by a Greek immigrant named Sam Panopoulos in 1962. He decided to add pineapple to his pizza after trying it on Chinese food. He also named it “Hawaiian Pizza” after the brand of canned pineapple he used.
