"Sanctification of houses"
Something that really scared me when I was little was when, at random times of the day, priests would visit the houses of our small neighborhood, sanctifying the space, chanting eerie prayers and spilling drops of holy water from a dried up plant with confidence and entitlement as if what they were doing was something obligatory giving themselves for the right to disturb peace and everyday life of unsuspecting people like me. I remember my natural reaction was to seek shelter behind a chair and cry until it was over.
