For my latest school project we were tasked on creating a print ad poster campaign regarding a social/environmental issue that affects individuals and communities. I decided to make my campaign about promoting the 988 Crisis Line

Through this project I learned quite a lot. But the biggest takeaway I had was making sure that I know my audience and what they will appreciate. Along with my own challenges with mental health I have quite a few friends who share the same struggle. We often talk about how forced positivity is one of the worst things to experience, and that became the concept for this poster-literally tearing away the cheesy positive message and talking to someone like they're a person.
As I made revisions and showed my drafts to friends they all mentioned how refreshing it was to see something that cut through the forced positivity of 'everything will be okay."
