CONCEPT

The Wind Museum is located on the island of Novaya Zemlya, near its coast, in order to make the most of the natural features of the area. The choice of the site was determined by accessibility for visitors, aesthetic appeal and convenience for visitors. The museum building was designed taking into account the surrounding landscape and natural features. Its shape and design should harmoniously fit into the environment and reflect the theme of the wind.

Hyperborea - Earth (other -Greek. ὙΠερβορείΑ — "beyond the Borea", "beyond the north wind") is a legendary mythical northern country, the habitat of the Hyperborean people. Novaya Zemlya - the land of Borea: the land of the north wind.

The museum building consists of several stone volumes that are inscribed into the landscape of Novaya Zemlya and are, as it were, its continuation. The choice of stone as a material is due to not losing the identity of the place, as well as to support the concept of the Wind Museum. After all, winds also affect the formation of the relief, causing the accumulation of Aeolian deposits that form their various types. That is, the wind itself can become the architect of the building and change it over time. The shape of the roof of the museum was made of reinforced concrete, repeating the wind currents. For the construction of the museum, an elevated area was chosen to ensure maximum wind impact on the building.
The Wind Museum on Novaya Zemlya is designed to tell about the free and unpredictable movement of air, its impact on nature and human life. The museum's exposition consists of many interactive exhibits that allow visitors to learn about various aspects of wind and its impact on the environment. In addition, the museum is a scientific research center where experiments are conducted on the topic of wind and its impact on nature.

As part of the course project to create a wind museum on Novaya Zemlya, space-planning solutions were developed. The planning solution provides for the presence of the main areas of the museum: exhibition areas, recreation areas and service areas. In the exhibition area there are exhibits related to the theme of wind and its impact on nature and man. In the recreation area there will be a cinema hall and recreation areas. In the service area there will be staff quarters, warehouses and technical rooms. To ensure maximum wind impact on the building, special ventilation openings are provided, which will ensure the most efficient air flow. Special attention should be paid to the use of environmentally friendly materials in the construction of the museum in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment.
