    "Newspapers without news" is a student project for BA Media Design Studies second year course "Design in newspapers and magazines". It was realized in cooperation with fellow sophomore journalism student Slobodan Popratnjak. The project represents a critical commentary of the dominant agenda in contemporary Croatian mainstream print media. The blanks beneath catchy and sensational headlines bear the story and show that everything is said that way. We wanted to emphasize the fact that accompanying text in contemporary Croatian mainstream print media is usually meaningless and used only to fill the gaps between the headlines and ads. Readers get all information by skimming the headlines. To additionally stress the current state of the mainstream print media in Croatia and absurdity toward which it leans, we added senseless photographs to accompany the articles. The work was exhibited on the Day of Design in Zagreb as one of six projects representing the University of North. Read Less
