The Acutus stool is made up of carefully selected dimensions to create an aesthetically pleasing and stable piece of furniture.
Each bend is created effortlessly through traditional hand-bending techniques, assisted by the perforations in the metal.
The elegant form can be viewed from any angle, each creating their own geometric shapes and allowing the light to play upon the angled surfaces.
The stool comes in both brushed and painted finishes, providing a finished product to suit many different tastes.
Below you can see my initial renders, a result of countless hours making cardboard mockups and experimenting with angles to create what I believe is a structurally sound and truly beautiful form.
I decided I wanted the stool to be lightweight, so I settled on using 1mm aluminium which would be water jet cut as a flatpack sheet. From there I could hand fold the form and the natural tension of the bends would allow the stool to retain its shape without the need for any fastenings.
