Inspired by multiple-meaning words, this project plays with the homonym words "Organ".
Organ
noun
1. a part of an organism which is typically self-contained and has a specific vital function.
2. a large musical instrument having rows of pipes supplied with air from bellows and played using a keyboard or by an automatic mechanism.
I choose to work with the heart due to its iconic silhouette and because the shape of the arteries evokes the instrument's pipes. It is also an organ known for pumping blood, much like the instrument that plays notes when supplied with air. Whereas the other version of this project focuses on the pipes and heart shape, this illustration brings into play the traditional elements of the instrument.
