Ruined Furniture is a two piece furniture collection designed and built in 2013. Utilizing hand finishes that artificialize the aesthetic of decay, this series explores the ornamental condition of age and weathering as a mode of adornment in contemporary finishing.
The two furniture pieces are made of painted poplar and birch wood using digital fabrication techniques, and detail hand finishing. Abstract sculptural wood concept models were developed first, then studied and expanded as a means of developing the tectonic qualities of the furniture.
