CNC-machined Aluminium to narrow specifications
All aluminium parts are designed in a typically Danish minimalist design, with the desire to create a product that does not compromise from anything else on the market. The aluminium profiles are produced and machined using narrow tolerances of less than 0.01 millimeters.
The back and front frame are made out of a 20 mm thick aluminium profile. The weight is 2.6 kilograms
before CNC-milling. Approximately 80% of the basic aluminium profile is removed during this process. There are no visible joints as both front and back frames are made out of just one piece of solid aluminuim. This was necessary due to the requirement of the final cabinet – leaving no visual signs of screws and joints.
The technology behind the concept

A brand new high quality dual-tuner, with minimal power consumption, based on PCI-express technology guarantees enough bandwidth without any bottlenecks. The ultra sharp moving pictures from HD-TV broadcasts, thanks to the advanced 3D Comb filter, and the powerful hardware mpg-2 encoders make it possible to record 2 broadcasts at once. TV broadcasts are sharper than those seen on other media centers. FM-radio is also supported in a quality that is not yet on the market. The Media Center One has a built-in HD-DVD drive that can play both your old DVD’s and your new HD-DVD’s.
Media Center One is also a powerful fully functional Microsoft Windows Vista based PC. You can edit and show the family’s digital pictures and videos. Also you can surf the internet and read e-mails, all on the television or on any other screen in the house. You may do all these things in an elegant and user-friendly environment with only one remote control or directly on the front panel of the product.
7-card flash reader with USB, FireWire, headphone and microphone.
Laser engraved symbols for the hidden near-field buttons under the front panel. The product was first launched in matte black finish. Later also in white silver finish.

Revision 1.0 of the hardware and configuration.Very compact inside and complicated product. A Intel socket 479 Mircro-ATX motherboard, with Pentium M750 processor, dual tv-tuner, highend soundcard, 5 channel class-D hifi-amplifier 5x75W, DVD/HD-DVD drive, ir-reciever and harddrive.
New revision 2.0 and configuration, lets take a look inside!
Intel micro-ATX motherboard with Mobile Core Duo 2 processor up to 2,4Ghz, digital/analog dual tv-tuner, highend soundcard, 5 channel class-D hifi-amplifier 5x75W, DVD/HD-DVD drive, ir-reciever and harddrive. SATA hdd and more heatpipes installed from the motherboard to the cabinet.
Technical drawing from front to top - all made in CorelDRAW and in 2D - before it was made in 3D in Autodesk Inventor.
Inventor 3D drawing of the front panel. Revision 1.0.
In revision 2.0 the drawing and construction had one big hole for the IR-recievers.
We start with a solid 2,2 cm thick aluminium part that is 10,5 x 46,5 cm in the CNC machine.
The routing software has transfered the 3D drawing to something the CNC machine can work with.
The front panel is CNC'ed and made from both sides. They look great in the raw clean material, just waiting for some advanced surface treatments. The surface was made in the same way as the Aimpoint Scopes. They are made on the exact same factory.
The first ever handbuild prototype of the aluminum and metal parts. Everything fitted perfect first time. It was an honor and relief to see and feel the product for the first time. The product was rock solid and based on more than 25kg of pure aluminium before CNC-processing.
The total weight of the product with all internal part and in hifi-amplifier configuration was +27kg. A true bitch in the assembly line but a fantastic product in the livingroom.

The aluminum was extruded by Norsk Hydro and processed by Aluline A/S.
A new surface treatment that never came into production. Brushed surface.
