Folding Shower Stool

Shower Stool
The folding chair project allowed us to redesign a folding chair to fit a need in a market while using the structure of existing folding chair mechanisms.
The shower Stool is a folding chair designed to asset those who need seat support while showering. The sustainable design incorporates elegant finish with practical consideration. The round bamboo seat allows the user to rotate while showering. The design folds to a compact 80mm width at the widest point when folded allowing other showers users to go about there use without having to remove more common bulky shower seating. The rubber feet allow for grip and the design comes with an external suction hook allowing for support while the stool is not in use. The folding mechanism of the stool is inspired by Neils Gammelgaard (Ikea 1978).
Designed and made as part of a team in the Product Design School at the University of Canterbury, in collaboration with Jayden Hann and George Turner (2022)
