TAPENIGHT - GLUE (Music Video)

My work on Tapenight visuals started with designing their record "Monopathy". Soon after, the band offered me to shoot a video for them for their song "Glue". I listened to the demo recording and agreed, I was thrilled with the music! We had no budget, so I decided to shoot a simple video in the style of television music videos. We shot everything at the "Overdose" studio where the band usually works.

The format of music videos is very inspired by music TV channels, television, today it is an outdated way of promotion, rather a tribute to traditions.
The chorus of the song sings "fly home", so I decided to build makeup for the guys on the silhouette of a butterfly and also use animated drawings of butterflies in interludes. The butterfly as a symbol of rebirth, an entity that has gained freedom and will to fly anywhere.
I shot the video on two cameras. My Canon ixus70 soapbox for which I built a rig out of Lego to attach my ultra-wide lens to it. And on a Sony Mini DV camera, sometimes using a reversible fish eye lens.

I overlaid various visual synthesizers and vintage kaleidoscopes on top of the video that move to the beat of the music.

Glue pencil is a merch that the band came up with, I designed it, Anna Kashevnik made a 3D motion video for which I did sound design and recorded voice.
