Roatan Island Square
It is a commercial project located on the island of Roatán in Honduras, designed and produced by "Playground Architecture".
The project has 2,250 m2 and is a mixed building, on the first level different shops and equipment are distributed in an "L" shape, such as a veterinary clinic with independent access at one end and a bank at the opposite end. In addition to a food court and a parking space. All this surrounded by the local and tropical nature of the island.
On the second level we find apartments with privileged views towards the coast and the palm forests. At the far right of the building we can find a gym with independent access from the apartments.
The project functions as an urban enhancer for a growing and consolidating sector, giving rise to local brands and small businesses in the area. It also preserves its most natural appearance by relocating the species from the project area to consolidate green walls that regulate the temperature of the place.
Speaking of design, this was prioritized for climate control and solar incidence, having full glass facades, different solutions were designed in wooden latticework and extended covers to provide shade to the interior and exterior spaces. Air circulation is guaranteed by the "L" shaped design, cross ventilation and great height of the interior spaces.
A project with a positive impact that will help the sector in its emerging process, through an architecture that is more than commercial, consistent with the place.
