Terrain Destruction




The Terrain Destruction project aims to recreate a large-scale earthquake scene from the film '2012', as the ground beneath the airplane runway collapses.

I used the RBD bullet solver to simulate the terrain destruction, and Axiom for the dust pyro sims. The debris rocks are instanced on to points from a particle sim to add to the chaos of the destruction. The final voxel count across 12 separate pyro sims added upto 215 million voxels, which were brilliantly simulated by Axiom’s GPU-accelerated Fluid Solver.
